Geo-Marine Awarded $400M 5-year Design-Build Contract

GMI has been selected as an AFRC contractor under the new Command-wide Operations and Maintenance Project Execution Contract (COMPEC) II. The company is one of a small number of contractors selected for the 5-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.

Archaeology Fair Draws Record Crowd

Pint-sized explorers, budding artists and junior archaeologists were among those who visited this year's Archaeology Fair in Plano, TX. The event was sponsored by Geo-Marine, The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation, and the City of Plano in Plano, Texas.

Beckemeyer Named GMI President

Curt Beckemeyer, Senior V.P. and Transportation Sector Manager for Applied Research Associates (GMI's parent company), has been named President of GMI. Beckemeyer takes on this position in addition to his existing ARA responsibilities.

Wetlands

Wetland delineation GMI’s wetland scientists have been actively delineating, permitting, managing, and mitigating wetlands since the promulgation of the Clean Water Act. Projects that affect wetlands, rivers, swamps, bogs, and other types of water bodies can face complex permitting requirements ranging from Section 404 of the Clean Water Act to state and local regulations.

GMI’s wetland scientists have experience evaluating water regulations and negotiating with agencies in order to ensure successful completion of wetland related project. We use our technical skills, combined with environmental regulatory analysis and agency negotiations, to achieve client’s goals, regulatory compliance, and reduce overall project costs.

Mountain Creek Wetland Delineation, Dallas, Texas

GMI conducted a delineation of jurisdictional waters of the U.S. based on methods described in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetlands Delineation Manual and 33 Code of Federal Regulations 328.3[e] within the site boundaries. GMI delineated the potential jurisdictional waters on an existing topographic map for permit submittal to the Corps. Deliverables included delineation methods and results, delineation map, completion of routine wetland determination data form, representative photographs of upland and jurisdictional sites, descriptions of the site and each jurisdictional area (i.e., soils, plant communities, historic land use, stream characteristics, and stream quality). Recommendations also included minimization plan to avoid a preconstruction notice submittal to the USACE.

Wetland Delineation, POD 4, Harbor View, Suffolk, Virginia

GMI conducted a wetlands delineation of approximately 40 acres. GMI collected information on soils, vegetation and groundwater in accordance with the procedures and criteria contained in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual. Principal emphasis will be on the northern section of the property. Specific deliverables included establishment of wetlands limits through placement of numbered field flags at wetland/upland boundary, field manuscript showing the location of delineation including the location of numbered flags, completed routine wetland determination data forms, and acquisition of concurrence with the field delineation by the Corps.

Wetland Delineation/Stream Verification, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

GMI delineated wetland boundaries in the project area using digital orthophotography, ArcGIS, and field survey data. All wetlands boundaries were flagged and data was provided to USACE for a jurisdictional determination and permit. Field verification was conducted with USACE personnel and all permits for work were issued.

Wetland Delineation, Brookhaven Creek Pipeline, Norman, Oklahoma

GMI wetland biologists performed environmental surveys to delineate waters of the United States, including wetlands, along approximately 10,000 linear feet of an existing sewage pipeline adjacent/parallel to Brookhaven Creek iin Northwest Norman, Oklahoma. The delineation was conducted in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual. The methodology incorporates a multiparametric approach requiring evidence of hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and wetland hydrology for a positive wetland determination.

Wetlands Delineation, 2.8 Acre Site, Jackson/Tougaloo, Mississippi

GMI performed a site investigation to identify wetlands on a 2.8-acre potential communications tower site near Jackson, Mississippi. GMi performed a jurisdictional wetland delineation and flagged the wetland boundaries. GMI prepared a report and letter addressed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requesting a jurisdictional determination. GMI also conducted a second onsite visit to meet with the Corps.
