PORTFOLIO

Storm Surge, Flood Prone Areas, and Tidal Modeling
GMI analyzed historical tidal trends, potential flood events resulting from tropical cyclones (i.e., tropical depression, tropical storm, and hurricane) and storms generating flash flood rainfall. Hosted by the East Coast Region GEOFidelis Center (GEOFIEAST), the resulting model data is used to assist planners and decision makers in their hazard evaluations when storms threaten the region.
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Ecological Baseline Studies
GMI managed databases, GIS mapping, developed customized tools such as scripts and coding, incorporated and processed multiple data types for analysis, as well as conducted review and QA/QC procedures in support of the assessment of ecological variables relating to offshore operations. GMI analyzed species point locations, densities, physical features, special interest areas, and developed a model that would supplement decision making efforts. The two year effort required the creation of over 1000 map documents which were included in GMI’s reporting.
Airfield Feature Extraction and Geodatabase Development, ACC, Middle East
GMI analyzed imagery for 125 strategic sites in the Middle East. Between fifteen and twenty five infrastructure themes were extracted per site, and converted to spatially accurate layers for military planning purposes. All data was SDS and FGDC compliant and was subject to multi-level quality control standards. This analytical and mapping undertaking aided planners in the interest of managing government assets overseas.
Marine Resource Assessments, U.S. Navy, Global
For each of the regional Marine Resource Assessment reports, GMI developed comprehensive marine geodatabases depicting physical oceanography, bathymetry, commercial fisheries, marine mammal distributions, sea turtle distributions, T&E species, essential fish habitats, marine protected areas, and recreational activities. GIS deliverables for each MRA include approximately 3GB of geospatial data and protected species databases containing all available sighting data.
