GMI Awarded Energy Audits for Air National Guard

PLANO, TEXAS (September 1, 2007)

The Air National Guard (ANG) has awarded a contract to GMI for energy audits at four ANG bases. GMI will identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and meet the goals of Executive Order 13423, which calls for a reduction in energy consumption of three percent per year through the year 2015.

The audits, valued at $175,000, will be performed at bases in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Schenectady, New York; Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama. These bases were selected by ANG’s Civil Engineering Technical Support Center at Minot, North Dakota based on their current high levels of energy consumption.

“GMI will examine the types of energy consumed at each facility,” said V.P. Larry Kaminsky, “looking at water, electricity, natural gas, compressed air, steam, fuel oil, and other areas.” The firm will identify and prioritize solutions, which typically include upgrading infrastructure, retro-commissioning systems, and behavioral modifications.

There are 140 ANG units located throughout the U.S. and its territories.
